Tara is a Partner in the Firm’s Real Estate and Land Development Department. She was called to the Trinidad and Tobago Bar in 1997 and also joined the Firm in that year. Since that time she has specialized in real estate law and related property transactions including conyevances, transfers, assignments, leases, mortgages and registrations.
Tara’s clients include major financial institutions, insurance companies, property developers and residential communities. She also lends considerable support and expertise to the Firm’s Corporate/Commercial Department, in particular, she advises on a wide range of financial transactions including residential and commercial mortgage and security transactions. Her expertise in tracking down and verifying title also lends invaluable assistance in oil and gas transactions involving old and convoluted private petroleum mining rights. Tara also assists in training the staff of her financial clients for the purposes of helping them better understand the legal aspects of mortgage and finance transactions and she also engages regular citizens on these issues through her regular participation in seminars hosted for the education of the public.
Tara enjoys the investigative aspect of real property law and takes pleasure in delving into the story behind each title, some of which can reveal important insights into the historical development of property ownership in Trinidad and Tobago and the events surrounding same. Tara believes in rendering clear quality advice and being responsive to client needs.
