Tara is a Partner of the Firm’s Real Estate and Land Development Department. She was called to the Trinidad and Tobago Bar in 1997 and also joined the Firm in that year. Tara is a specialist Real Estate Attorney and has vast experience in real estate law and related property and commercial transactions including conveyances, transfers, assignments, leases and mortgages. Tara’s long career in the Real Estate industry has resulted in a thorough understanding and knowledge of the operations and workings of the Land Registry. Tara is part of a committee of corporate, commercial and conveyancing attorneys who assist with the review of Real Property Legislation in Trinidad and Tobago as well as monitoring the technological changes in the office of the Registrar General of Trinidad and Tobago.
Tara’s main clients include major financial institutions, insurance companies, property developers and residential communities. She also lends considerable support and expertise to the Firm’s Commercial Department, in particular, she advises on a wide range of financial transactions including residential and commercial mortgage and security transactions. Her expertise in tracking down and verifying title also lends invaluable assistance in oil and gas transactions involving old and convoluted private petroleum mining rights. Recent transactions include large scale residential and commercial developments, located in Central and West Trinidad.
Tara also assists in training the staff of her financial clients for the purposes of helping them better understand the legal aspects of mortgage and finance transactions.
Tara enjoys the investigative aspect of real property law and takes pleasure in delving into the story behind each title, some of which can reveal important insights into the historical development of property ownership in Trinidad and Tobago and the events surrounding same. Tara approaches her transactions with enthusiasm and determination and strives to render clear quality advice while being responsive to her clients needs.
